About me... Léah Ferreira, MS, LMFT

My name is Léah Ferreira, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am dual licensed in California (LMFT #128659) and Oregon (LMFT #T2207).

I grew up in Southern California. However, I love and thrive best when it’s raining, when the skies are covered in gray clouds, or just in cooler weather overall. That energy just seems to push me to be more active and productive. I’m the opposite of most; I’d rather nap in the sun than be active.

I got my master’s in marriage and family therapy in 2018. I also just began my PhD adventure. I will be studying psychology with a specialization in LGBTQ+ and Gender Fluidity.

As a queer therapist, I put my focus on creating a space that is a safe and comfortable environment even while seeing my clients virtually. I am empathetic, understanding, and compassionate about your goals and treatment. I think of my role as a guide who provides clients with a space where asking for help is not looked down upon but admired. The first step is always hard, and I’m proud of you for being here.

My approach to therapy is holistic, eclectic, and client-centered. I work with clients of all ages, including couples, to bridge new relationships with their pasts so that their futures can be fulfilling and hopeful.

Again, thank you for being here. I believe in you and know that you can do hard things!

    My Education & Approach

    How I got here.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2002 and my Master’s degree in 2004 in Education. I went on to become a teacher for several years but always found that my heart belonged to counseling and that I wanted to be a therapist. Many moons into my teaching career, I realized I needed to return to school. And so I did. In 2018, I graduated from Capella University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am now back in school, aiming for my PhD!

    My Approach.

Everyone has their style, their own uniqueness to them. As such, therapy should reflect that. I want to meet each client where they are to work with them to discover what it is that keeps them from the life they wish to have. Together, we can find the source that keeps you from healing.

I have worked with clients dealing with trauma, PTSD, the effects of divorce, trials of life phases, infidelity, and other relationship-type issues. I also have extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA community.

I strive to encourage my clients to understand that they are not the problem they are experiencing and that they have the power to overcome their obstacles. I am passionate about providing a safe environment for my clients to explore what is needed to heal.
